Nom par lequel les Orientaux désignent l'Europe occidentale, le pays des Francs.
   Frangi, les Francs (voy. franc 4), et un mot persan stan, qui signifie demeure, et dont le radical est dans le latin stare, être debout, et dans plusieurs autres langues aryennes.
